Broken Down Walls Part 3: Ignorance

Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.

Proverbs 19:2

Most of us have heard the statement that Ignorance is Bliss. But to think like that is foolishness. Martin Luther King Jr said, Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. Ignorance is a tool that the devil uses to blind people's minds to truth that can lives and societies.

This month we are looking at Treasures in Heaven. Last week we talked about "Chasing after the Wind" where we concluded that we must seek God's kingdom first and foremost in our lives. This week in taking a look at Broken Down Walls we are looking at things in our lives that can be dangerous to us. These areas can be represented by the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Today we are dealing with Ignorance. God calls out to us over and over again to gain knowledge. Proverbs 15:14 says, "The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly." Frivolous things can easily fill up our days and our time. But we need to ask ourselves: Is this beneficial? There is nothing wrong with having fun or enjoying life. However, if pursuit of our lives is self-fulfillment, we will find ourselves ignorant of God's will and purpose. Seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness cannot be done apart from learning about Him and what He tells us in His Word. Even being enthusiastic about God can lead us down a wrong road unless we learn what He says about Himself.

Ignorance is no excuse. That again is the trap of having broken down walls. God has given us all the tools and abilities to seek out knowledge, wisdom and understanding so that we can be people of strength, conviction, and character. When we get what He has for us, we will be mature, complete, and ready to do the good works that He has called us to walk in. We will be useful to Him and others and we will continue to grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Blessings to you!
