Thankfulness to God Part 2: Contagious Enthusiasm

... your zeal has stirred up the majority.

2 Corinthians 9:2b

We all have something in life that we are excited about. Some of us go to sporting events and have a great time yelling and shouting. Others of us watch a good movie or read a good book and then tell others excitedly how fantastic it was. We get enthusiastic about the things that we like. We want other to join in and celebrate those things with us. Enthusiasm can be contagious!

This month we have been studying Treasures In Heaven. We have taken a different look at laying up for ourselves treasures where moth and rust don't destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. We have looked at how we can "Chase the Wind" by focusing on what this world offers us. And last week we looked at how having "Broken Down Walls" can stop us from laying treasures in Heaven. This week we are taking a look at key ingredient to laying up treasure in heaven: Having the Attitude of Gratitude.

In the passage above, the Apostle Paul was encouraging the church to be enthusiastic. Apparently there was a small group that Paul was writing to who were "stirring up" the rest of the body to be better. That is exciting! That is what God has called us to do. Enthusiasm can help others to be on "fire" for Jesus and the Gospel of grace. We have such a wonderful, amazing, fantastic God who has done something far more incredible than anything we can think or imagine. He Saved Us! He did what we couldn't possibly do! He gave us His righteousness so that we could be reconciled to God! We were going to Hell and He gave us the "Get-Out-of-Hell-Free-Card"! That is something to "get pumped-up" about! That is something to be excited about! That is something to shout about! What an incredible gift God has given to us!

God wants us to get "stirred up" about His kingdom and His righteousness. When we get enthusiastic about His plans, this affects others! Pretty soon we can have a bunch of God-focused, on-fire Christians running around doing amazing things for God! Watch out World--here comes the King! Let's give our enthusiasm to God because He will use that to make His people to zealous for good works--and it is good to be zealous in a good thing always.

(Galatians 4:18)

Blessings to you!
