FCC MESSAGES
Re-Center - Oct 24
In this four week series, we will be spending time in Romans 8 and 12, looking at four calls to action, four heart postures, four ways of living that God has invited His people to press into. While these have been evident in God's people's lives all along, it appears that these are four He is inviting us to reassess and commit to regardless of what comes next.
Treasures in Heaven - April 24
Does your focus bring you fear or freedom? It is in our “everyday” where we find what our lives are truly focused on.
In Matthew 6, Jesus challenges the pursuits of our heart. Where are we focused? What are we living for? Do the aims of our lives line up with laying up treasures in heaven, or are we storing up things of this world that will fade away?
The answers to these questions will reveal to us where our heart is focused. Join us in the month of April as we take 4 weeks and see how God’s word guides and directs our hearts to make sure we are storing up Treasures in Heaven.
Emotions & the Heart
Feb - 2024
God created us as emotional beings. He has given each of us the capacity to feel deeply. Joy. Sadness. Anger. Compassion.
When we can better process our powerful emotions, we can start to understand how He will use them for His purpose and His good.
Jesus experienced emotions. He even wept. It’s the shortest sentence in the Bible but it reveals so much about who Jesus was. He was not aloof, or distant from the people He encountered. He was present. He wept. He felt…deeply.
The Bible shows us many examples of Jesus’s emotions: love, compassion, righteous anger, sadness, and more.
In this study, we’ll look at how Jesus processed emotions and how following His example can help us see how our own emotions can be used to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives and bring Him glory.
PURSUING PEACE BEYOND UNDERSTANDING
Dec 2023
Moments of peace are precious. When we find them, we hold on tight and pray they last. But there's a peace that goes beyond our understanding—beyond the pain and fear we face today. This Christmas season, if you've been Pursuing Peace, come discover it with us.
THE FEAR OF GOD
Fall 2023
The Fear of God is foundational to every promise of God. Though many turn away at the word fear, the Bible differentiates between the healthy, holy fear of God and the lesser fears that cripple and paralyze us. Join us at FCC this fall as we dive into what the Bible tells us it is to truly live in a way that honors and fears the Lord. Jesus treasured this virtue above all - and we would be wise to do the same.
HEBREWS
2023
When the first readers of the letter to the Hebrews received it, they were leading desperate lives.
Thirty years after Jesus ascended into heaven, first-century believers were disillusioned and discouraged. Because of their faith, many had lost their homes, loved ones, and some even lost their lives.
They had turned to Jesus and were suffering for it. So the writer of Hebrews was building a bridge back to Jesus- a bridge over troubled, terrible, threatening waters.
But we will discover that Jesus Christ is the bridge from this life to eternal life; and following Him is worth it!
Dr. J. Vernon McGee has this to say about the book of Hebrews, "To read it is to breathe the atmosphere of heaven itself. To study it is to partake of spiritual meat. To abide in its teachings is to be led from immaturity to maturity in the knowledge of truth and of Jesus Christ Himself."
THAT SAME SPIRIT
Life can be messy. Sometimes we create the mess, sometimes we deal with the mess other people make, other times we deal with the messes that are just a part of life. In those times, I think you'd agree; we could really use a helper.
God has just the helper we're looking for. We hope you enjoy our upcoming study, "That Same Spirit," as we dive into what life looks like when we partner with the Holy Spirit.
MENTAL & EMOTIONAL HEALTH STUDY
What does the Bible say about our mental and emotion health? During a time where most find themselves in a time of struggle, it is more important than ever to dig into God's word and discover timeless truths as we face trying times in our mental and emotional wellbeing.
